Below is a transcript of the televised speech that Rully Kusuma, president of Dublin Learning Corporation, gave at Dublin’s City Council Meeting, 7:37PM PDT on September 15, 2009.
Thank you for this opportunity to speak. My name is Rully Kusuma. I live in Dublin with my wife and baby daughter. I am also president of the Dublin Learning Corporation. I am here to announce that we are planning to open A NEW PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL IN DUBLIN. Scheduled to open in Fall 2012, Tassajara Prep will give Dublin parents a new choice in high schools.
Tassajara Prep will offer an exceptional college prep experience to all Dublin students, and will include:
At first we may utilize one of the existing school district buildings, but our long term vision is to give families in east Dublin the sense of community that a neighborhood high school brings. Tassajara Prep will eventually eliminate the need for thousands of daily, cross-town car trips during peak hours, resulting in a huge reduction in traffic congestion, pollution, time & expense.
There will be information packets about Tassajara Prep at the door tonight for everyone to take with them. We encourage you to visit our website at tassajaraprep.org for additional information. We also invite everyone to visit our booth at Day on the Glen on Sept 19 and 20 to meet the school founders and to learn more about this exciting new era for Dublin’s public schools.
Over the next few months we will be holding city-wide town hall meetings to talk about plans for the school and to gather community input to make sure that Tassajara Prep is a school that every Dublin resident will be proud of.
We at Dublin Learning Corporation look forward to working with the city and the school district to achieve our common goal of an outstanding education for every student. Thank you.
